We Were Warriors Once
A military-political suspense novel. It combines two previously published novels--Duty and Character & Wrong Enemy, Wrong War--with new work.
There’s an old saying in the military that is analogous to serving in the Pentagon—when you’re up to your ass in alligators, it’s tough to remember that your mission was to drain the swamp. We Were Warriors Once is a novel for those who served in the Pentagon, those who counted their lucky stars that they didn’t have to, and those who always wondered how certain, sometimes seemingly squirrelly, decisions were made inside those five walls. This book scrutinizes the characters of several Army officers as they rise through the ranks and the effects of the military-industrial complex on national defense.
"a very readable, intelligent novel that teems with crisp, realistic dialogue and engaging characters."

Duty and Character
A military-political suspense novel, included in We Were Warriors Once.
The Abrams M-1 tank wiped the Soviet’s best from the battle field in Desert Storm. But the M-1 was almost never produced. Its critics and cost over-runs nearly buried it inside the Washington beltway. Only because certain individuals were willing to risk their careers did the M-1 ever see combat. There are times when an officer must choose between what is right for the Service and what is best for his or her own career. Like most lessons, integrity is often learned through a mistake. Against this backdrop, Lieutenant General Max Scott will face such a test when a one night stand from his past threatens the loss of Congressional support for the much needed M-1 tank.
"a unique view of the U.S. Army stretching from the Vietnam era to the Reagan military build up. His vivid characters spring to life with all the frailties and strengths of men and women caught up in day to day events"
"The plot has twists and turns with an ending that is completely unexpected."
